The gear that brings you home
Trevor Spikes
A photo of Apache Peak the day after Trevor’s accident.
On the day Trevor reached Apache Peak, his MICROspikes® and ice axe were 15 miles ahead at the Idyllwild post office. He pressed on without them, slipped on snow-covered ice, and fell 600 feet.
Trevor’s accident was avoidable and Trevor Spikes exists because that should never happen again. The program puts traction devices and ice axes in the hands of PCT thru-hikers at two points along the trail where snow and ice become serious. Before the climb into the San Jacinto Mountains at Paradise Valley Cafe and again at Kennedy Meadows South, where the trail leaves the desert and enters the Sierra Nevada. No shipping hassles. No guessing. The gear is there when the trail demands it.

“Ugly Stik” was one of the first PCT hikers to traverse into the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 2025. He purchased an ice axe through the Trevor Spikes program. After a near deadly fall, we received the following communication…
“Push people to buy an ice axe. It saved my life and I really didn’t want to buy one. I’m so glad I did now. Thank you!” - Ugly Stik
